The following is the new schedule for Book Arts and Decorative Papers with Cristi Winona Collari for this fall at the Artist Palette Studio. Classes Start the Week of September 14th.

Wednesday Nights
Salvaged Books
Intermediate course for Adults
Friday evenings 7:15 - 9:15 pm
Sept. 16, 23, 30 & Oct. 7
Course fee $85.00 - NO Materials fee

This workshop is for students already familiar with the basic materials and techniques of book making. Make beautiful one-of-a-kind books with salvaged materials found in and around the home and/or office. Participants will then use these collected materials to create book covers, build book signatures, and use the ancient art of Coptic book binding to construct one-of-a-kind, personalized artist's journals and sketchbooks to take home. Use for drawings, paintings, collage, travel journals, recipes, photos, and/or scrap-booking projects, or as unique gifts for someone special.

Beginner's course for ages 11 - up

This workshop will familiarize participants with the basic materials and techniques of paste papers. Make beautiful one-of-a-kind decorative papers using pastes and pigments. With a wide variety of tools, participants delve into surface design techniques and create elaborate patterns and textures. Participants will then use these beautiful papers to create paste paper projects; a picture frame, a covered box, and a woven basket.

Beginners course for ages 11 - up

This workshop is for students already familiar with the basic functions of their camera, but want to explore composition and framing. Learn to see through the lens differently by learning to see the world around you differently. In the classroom we will take another look at photographs you’ve already taken as well as photographs by experts and talk about what makes a photograph great as opposed to good. We will explore the world together through the camera lens in the field and critique our work weekly, until by the end of the course you will see your own improvement in the photographs you create. This is not a photo lab course or a course to teach you how to use the functions of your particular digital camera. Please bring your own camera and be prepared to print your own photographs and bring them to class for review each week.

Looking for a fun idea for a birthday party or grown-ups night out! Any of my workshops can be tailored to your special occasion for up to 8 people depending on the workshop and skill level. If you book a party for 6 or more I'll waive the materials fee for the hostess! Book a party for 8 or more and I’ll waive the course fee for the hostess! Workshop length and fees vary. Please call for more information.
